A Close-but-No-Cigar QR Code
When I had my Mini’s snow tires removed and the regular tires put back on a few months ago, I was surprised to find this yellow Post-It® Note stuck to my rear-view mirror.
It was a super-sized note, maybe a full 5 ½ x 8” if my memory is correct (no promises). And there it sat, stuck to the mirror in a spot I was sure NOT to miss it when I buckled up and got ready to tootle on down the road.
Every fall and spring I
visit this same tire center. This was the first time I recall getting a jumbo note, complete with a QR code.
“Did we WOW you today”?, the note asked me. Why, yes, in fact, they had wowed me. Their service is perfect. I’m always treated with respect and grace.
Being in the marketing business, I was delighted to see a giant QR code on this post-it note. When I got home, I scanned it with my phone, natch, and there it was: a long, long survey that asked for a lot of contact info plus feedback on their service that day.
Because I like this tire center a lot and applaud their use of a QR code, I filled it in – which took a lot of time considering the amount of information they sought. The idea was grand, and their instincts were spot on: get customer feedback right away, using a cool technology on a printed piece that dares to be ignored.
I just wish the survey had been designed differently. Short and sweet would have done the trick. They were so close to a perfect campaign!
